Jasper wind pervades my soul
And scintillates my nose.
I inhale a cool-warm breath
Of sleepy summer prose.
It's a beautiful night.
The stars, my string-ed orchestra,
Light white sparks on my bones.
The night-grass hums in cricket tongues
Envelope me in home.
It's a beautiful night.
My reverie by darkness spreads
Recumbent on the gravel.
My lover is the midnight road
Down which my tires travel.
It's a beautiful night.
